Luminal Coherence Field
Six luminous forms emerge against a dark ground, recalling planetary bodies, accretion discs, and diffuse astronomical structure. Through abstraction, the work considers how light, matter, and motion produce brief coherence within a wider cosmic field.

This image is taken from Space in Schools. Space in schools is a project designed to teach primary children about Earth and Space through a cross-curricular approach using movement and dance. In this time-lapse image, dance artist Lucy Starkey, is exploring the physical concept of an orbit.Â

Resin polyhedral dice inspired by spiral galaxies and rotating accretion disks.
Nebula Art
"The Andromeda Galaxy" and "The Overview Effect" are made of glass seed beads and crystals. The others, "The Eagle Nebula" and "Star Birth" are oil paintings. I started creating these images when I was 75 years old, then was accepted in to the International Association of Astronomical Artist. Now age 82, I am still creating. Â
Some planets (and a black hole) made using the open-source VFX software Blender. All textures are made procedurally.

The Fabric of the Universe
This tapestry was created by members of two astronomy groups at the University of Birmingham — Sun, Stars, and Exoplanets (SSE) and the Astrophysics and Space Research Group (ASR). Made from over 50 crochet granny squares, it brings together contributions from researchers across both groups, many of whom learnt to crochet from scratch especially for this project. The piece took three months to complete, stitch by stitch, square by square.
